Hey guys, I am on a mission to lose 15 pounds by my 24th birthday, September 27 and keep it off. I try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week but I love all kinds of food. I wanted to ask you guys what are your favorite low fat/low calorie diet friendly foods that still TASTE GOOD?? One of my favorites is Dreyer's/Eddy's slow churned mint and chocolate chip reduced calorie ice cream. It tastes so yummy and has only 120 calories per serving. I also am a big fan of Sprite Zero. It has no caffeiene, no calories and tastes 99.7% like regular Sprite. I am not a big fan of diet drinks, but I drink one of these everyday. Help me out and let me know what you favorite foods are that are helping you lose weight but still taste great!
Zagliani
Andy Warhol for Levi's
Pierre Hardy
Lean Cuisine is great I like the pizzas I don't feel like I'm dieting when I eat them.
Also Weight Watchers Cookies and Cream bars, my god, that is the most delicious desert and its only 5 grams of fat.
Light Lay's Potato chips taste exactly like the regulars except less greasy and they're only like 90 calories .
Turkey sandwiches with a little mustard are a great idea for a low calorie lunch with a cup of chicken noodle or minestrone soup I'm all set.
Good luck with your weight loss!
1frozen fruits! for all your sweet cravings
2Veggie's stirfried in a little olive oil (a healthy oil) with low salt soy sauce and low-fat extra-firm tofu. For dessert fruit skewers & you can dip them in some low-fat whipped dessert-topping for an extra treat. Pineapple/sweet grapes/kiwi/banana, that's my fav. combo.
3Try cutting down a lot on salt in general, and drink AT LEAST 8 glasses of water a day. Herbal teas are good too, since they don't need any milk or sugar added.
Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are toning up at the gym you might not need to lose as much weight as you think. Go by how you feel and how healthy you look, not the scale.
I've also heard diet drinks can make you crave sweets more because they trick your brain into going into sweet mode without actually satisfying the craving.
Get low fat yogurt in the little 8 ounce containers... put em in the freezer.. when you wanna eat them let them sit out for a couple mins and they are delicious!
salty snack- low fat popcorn in single servings (wont be tempted to eat the whole bag
)
wanna big greezy hamburger?? get whole wheat bun.. tomatoe basil pizza burger (morning star brand) .. low fat cheese and low fat mayo... slap on some lettuce YUM... and make your own french fries.. bake em instead of cooking them in oil... add seasoning for flavor
4lately i've been loving turkey burgers and sweet potato fries with salsa
5I lost 15 lbs on a strict diet of bran flakes with skim milk in the morning - Progresso Chicken Noodle soup and a small salad for lunch (or any broth based soup - I splurge with the dressing on the salad - low fat dressing is gross.. use regular dressing but very little of it). Dinner - chicken or beef with a vegetable - PORTION CONTROL IS KEY! Take half of what you usually do - over time your stomach "shrinks" and you don't need as much food to fill you up. Desserts - those pudding cups they sell near the yogurt in the grocery store are great and very low fat. PS... Pickles only have 5 calories! PPS. On the salad - NO black olives - they are loaded with calories. Good luck!
6If you are in need of a treat, track down Skinny Cow Fat Free Fudge Bars (they also have a low-sugar option), they are only 100 calories, but they are a really big fudgey Popsicle! Sooooooo good! As for other diet-friendly foods, I do a lot of cereals, low-fat (light) yogurt and granola, and fruit-and-yogurt smoothies. (clean and slice several fresh fruits--can be anything from blueberries to mangoes-- and place in the freezer for an hour or two. then, blend in blender, adding a little yogurt and some fruit juice...sooooooo good!)
Good Luck!
7try substituting salad dressings with grated cheese... it can be any kind of your choice... as long as its added in moderation... its a healthier choice and you dont compromise the taste
8I really love South Beach Diet breakfast bars in the cinnamon raisin flavor. They have way less sugar then most breakfast bars and 10g of protien so they keep my full forever. I'd also suggest lots of water and to munch on almonds or some other type of nut when you're hungry between meals.
9i like the new chocolate drizzle special k cereal for a choco craving snack.
10Lean & Fit Carb Control yogurt - vanilla creme... on baked apples or on anything. So good. Helps you get your 24oz. calcium in 24 Hours. 24in24 will help you loose faster and it's great for your bones!!!
I agree with "grl in the world" - diet drinks will sabotage your diet - both with the soduim and the artificial sweetener thing... Try using carbonated water and add a little of your own low sugar fruit juice. Stay away from high fructose sweeteners. They trick the brain too
Get Z-Sweet for your sweetener. All natural, no chlorine processing, the same sweetness as sugar, but 0 fat, cal, etc. Does not trick the brain.
Be sure to eat a little good fat with every meal, or your brain will not know you've eaten... Mono fat is crucial.
Go to FitSugar's Snack Attack group... I get lots of great tips there.
Don't skip breakfast!!!
We're rooting for ya, workinggirl!
11here's a fun fact: dreyer/eddy's regular(meaning plain, no chocolate chips) ice cream have the same amount of calories as the reduced fat one with mint, chocolate chips.....
12+ I just found out that caribou's skinnybou cooler have 50 calories less than the regular one (we are talking the smallest size obviously) but 7 grams more fat!
sorry, I was too fast about the ice cream thing. NOT TRUE! but I do have a point about the chocolate chips.
13lean cuisines are great.
if you need help curbing a soda addiction, try "fruition" drinks made by giant eagle. they are like a fruity carbonated beverage but absolutely delicious (also kinda curbs your appetite too). i think you can find other brands besides the giant eagle kind. they are usually located near the seltzer waters.
For desserts, try "no-sugar added" fudgesicles, which have only 40 calories in one!
Advantage, the nutrition and fitness company, makes carb control protein bars in really delicious flavors like cookies and cream. Have one of those with a piece of low-sugar fruit (like an apple) and it makes for a decent lunch believe it or not.
Also, one of my favorite breakfasts was scrambling a few egg whites, spraying them with spray butter (zero cal in that) and then taking a small dab of cream cheese and spreading on one slice of diet wheat toast, or a little mini pita for a breakfast sandwich.
14ah another awesome treat - frozen grapes or bananas.
15Luna bars
Sugar-free pudding cups
Dannon Light n' fit yogurt
For dinner, chickpeas and vegetables in tomato sauce . . . all that saucey yummy goodness, no nasty pasta.
Tuna salad made with mustard, a tiny bit of relish, a dash of worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper instead of gross mayo.
If you're into sweet heavy coffee drinks try some Vanilla Hazelnut Yogi or Stash tea with a little bit of vanilla soymilk in it.
Great ways to add flavor without calories or fat: lemon, garlic, capers, mustard, salsa.
