As someone who is known for doing detox diets a few times a year, Gwyneth Paltrow is in cleansing mode yet again. She's previously completed the Master Cleanse and other liquid-detox diets and described the three-week detox she's finishing in her most recent GOOP newsletter.
While Gwyneth writes, "This program allowed me to work and exercise regularly, something I cannot do if I am on a liquid-only detox," two of her three daily meals in this diet were liquid-only.

HEALTH GUIDE REFERENCE FROM A.D.A.M
Alcoholism is a chronic, often progressive disease in which a person craves alcohol and drinks despite repeated alcohol-related problems (like losing a job or a relationship). Alcoholism involves a physical dependence on alcohol, but other factors include genetic, psychological, and cultural influences.
Becoming addicted to alcohol is a gradual process that happens as alcohol changes the level of chemicals in your brain, especially gamma-aminobutyric acid or GABA (which stops you from being impulsive) and dopamine (which is linked with pleasurable feelings).

Definition
Drug addiction (dependence) is compulsively using a substance, despite its negative and sometimes dangerous effects. Drug abuse is using a drug excessively, or for purposes for which it was not medically intended.
A physical dependence on a substance (needing the drug to function) is not always part of the definition of addiction.

HEALTH GUIDE REFERENCE FROM A.D.A.M
Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death, responsible for an estimated 160,000 deaths in the United States annually. There are two major types: non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer, so-named because of how the cells look under a microscope. Non-small cell lung cancer is more common, and it generally grows and spreads more slowly.

Types of lymphoma include non-Hodgkin's, Hodgkin's, and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.

I didn't grow up eating brussels sprouts. My mother was forced to eat overcooked and mushy brussels sprouts as I child so she avoided them, and I did too.
I have since learned to love this veggie that looks like a mini cabbage.
